SCOPE
Social networks have become an increasingly popular communication tool, making more and more part of our every day life. More and more people use social networks as a quick and easy way to communicate, share information and also to find contents and contacts. As a consequence of this there is an increasing amount of information offered to users.
But not all the information is important or relevant to all users to whom it is offered. So there is a need of mechanisms to help users in selecting and filtering the information based on the analysis of the social network and on its users profiles, behaviors and contents. In order to accomplish this there is an increasing need to understand the social connections and behaviors within these networks and also analyze and manage the information that exists in these systems.
This special session welcomes research contributions that focus on systems and applications, data analysis and mining, that are relevant to improve social networking environments.
